Top Universities in the World

Have you ever wondered where most of the top universities in the world are located?

UK? Nope.

Switzerland? Nope again.

Canada? I'm sure you can do better.

It's US - United States of America. According to a survey in 2006 by Newsweek, the TOP 5 universities are from US (in descending order):

Out of the TOP 10, US universities comprises 80%.

Out of the TOP 20, US universities comprises 75%.

Out of the TOP 30, US universities comprises 70%.

And out of the TOP 50 universities, US universities make up 58%, that's more than half of all the TOP 50 universities in the world.

The next best nations are UK (7 universities in the TOP 50), Switzerland (5) and Canada (3).

The best Asian university in the TOP 50 is Tokyo University (ranked #16).

National University of Singapore (NUS) is ranked #36.

Malaysia has no universities ranked in the TOP 50 (as if this is something new).

Conclusion? US is definitely a good choice for education.

You might ask, what about quality of living? Ahhh... I'm prepared for that.

According to the Mercer HR Consulting Worldwide Quality of Living Survey, 2007, US cities comprises 16% (8 cities) out of the TOP 50, namely:

Honolulu, Hawaii (ranked #27)

San Francisco, California (ranked #29)

Boston, Massachusetts (ranked #36)

Washington, DC (ranked #44 - tied)

Chicago, Illinois (ranked #44 - tied)

Portland, Oregon (ranked #46)

New York City, New York (ranked #48)

Seattle, Washington (ranked #49 - tied)

US "happens" to have the most cities in the TOP 50.

Of course, the BEST city for QUALITY LIVING in the world, unchanged for many years, is Zurich, Switzerland, followed by Geneva, also in Switzerland, and Vancouver, Canada.

Interestingly, Singapore is ranked 34th best country for quality living. Of course, Malaysia... TAK DAK!

But what about Health and Sanitation Ranking??? Ahhh...

Quite interestingly, Zurich and Geneva is not at the top anymore, ranking #6 and #10 respectively. At the top is Calgary, Canada, followed by Honolulu, Hawaii and Helsinki, Finland.

US cities make up 24% of the TOP 50 for Health and Sanitation, not surprisingly, of course, and easily the country with the most cities in the TOP 50.

Some research huh? Heheheh... back to work now...

My goodness!

Just had time to realize that my company's not so cool in keeping the softwares & OS up-to-date.

I mean, what the heck, we are still running on Microsoft Windows 2000 and Office 2000. Windows 2000 is 2 generations behind, after Windows XP and Windows Vista, the latest. Office 2000 is 4 bloody generations behind, after Office XP, Office 2003 and Office 2007. What the???

It's really high time to get updated and change, change, CHANGE!!!

By the way, friends, please leave your comments, on what Windows and Office your company's using ok. Maybe I'll feel better after knowing I'm not alone in the belakangness! LOL

Shit

Hi Friends :) it's been a while since I last updated my blog. Well, I was busy, but I could actually still blog. But... dunno whether it's because I was lazy, blogger's block, sincerely dedicated to work (working hours means WORKING hours), or whatever, maybe it was all of that.

Well, TONS of things had happened since I last updated. I mean, really A LOT. And I just dun really know where I should start. Perhaps that's one of the reasons too... LOL... It's like shitting. If you forced yourself to NOT shit for a long time, not only there will be TONS of shit, but all that shit can't come out too!!!

So I guess, I won't be updating anything then... LOL... I mean, if I really start to, it would be A LOT... and most of it would be stale and probably stinkie too... LOL

Alright then, gotta go home now. Take care and God bless!

Discipline - how hard is that?

Many of you might not know, I had kinda strayed quite far away from many of the things I should prioritize in life, like God, family, studies, work... all because of the lack of one thing - DISCIPLINE.

How hard can that be? Well, it's like, I KNOW what I am supposed to do, I KNOW what is important to me, and yet... I didn't do any of them. Simply because of the lack of discipline, coupled together, probably, with ignorance and complacency and pride. Sigh.....

I would truly like to thank my darling for accepting this weakness of mine, and instead of condemning me and scolding me and disliking me and disowning me, she encouraged me to change and this is what I will definitely put a conscious effort to do. Not just because of her, but mainly, because I realized, that I had too many things to give thanks to God for. He had done too many wonderful stuffs in my life, and if I start naming all of them, it would take a really long time. Besides, if it was not for God, I wouldn't be here today. I wouldn't have anything too, like good health, great friends, superb life partner, good job, etc.

So I disciplined myself and I made a great head start today! Thank God! Read the Word & prayed for about an hour. I learnt that I should no longer be a slave to sins but a slave to righteousness. A man cannot serve 2 masters. And gratitude to God... ah, such an important and meaningful attitude to have in every believer. I always find that, whenever I got "lost", just by thinking about His great love would instantly fill my heart with gratitude to Him, and the rest is history :)

More work to be done tonight - need to re-organize and re-plan my entire life. Setting priorities, formulating action plans, praying in the Spirit, and re-aligning my daily activities to be in line with what pleases Him..... all that desperately NEEDS to be done. Alas, I need faith and most importantly, DISCIPLINE too, to put all that into actions, not just remain as mere words of the mouth or thoughts of the mind.

Wish me all the best, friends :)

Revelations 3:19-21 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door (to your heart) and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with Me on My throne, just as I overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
